About JAMA & Archives Journals
Published continuously since 1883, JAMA is one of the most widely circulated, peer-reviewed, general medical journals in the world. Together with the specialty Archives Journals, also published by the American Medical Association, the JAMA & Archives family of journals is committed to promoting the science and art of medicine and the betterment of public health.
JAMA and the 9 Archives Journals are published in print and online. The online journals include the Backfiles from volume 1, issue 1. JAMA is published online weekly, 48 issues per year, on Tuesdays. The Archives of Internal Medicine is published online twice a month, 22 issues per year, on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. The Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine and Archives of General Psychiatry are published online on the first Monday of the month; the Archives of Neurology and Archives of Ophthalmology are published online on the second Monday of the month; the Archives of Dermatology, Archives of Surgery, and Archives of OtolaryngologyHead & Neck Surgery are published online on the third Monday of the month. The Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery is published bimonthly on the third Monday of odd months. New issues are published online at 3 PM (1500) CT. Access is available via individual and institutional subscriptions or via AMA membership. The online journals are made freely available to institutions in developing countries through the World Health Organization's HINARI program.
